Eleven Years Of Coached Training On One Melbourne Street
Promowinnerhub has been running classes and private sessions out of 60 Cremorne Street since 2014, and in that time the one thing that has never changed is the reason people walk through the door. They come in wanting proper coaching, and they stay because that is exactly what they get.
Started With Two Racks And A Firm Belief
Promowinnerhub did not begin as a chain or a franchise. It began as a converted warehouse space with two power racks, a single rowing machine and one coach stubbornly convinced that people deserved better than being handed a lanyard and left to work it out alone. That was Dane Marrick, a strength coach who had spent years watching members drift through commercial gyms with no plan and no feedback.
The first year was fourteen members, all coached individually because that was the only way we knew how to run it. Word spread slowly, mostly through the local running clubs and CrossFit boxes around Richmond and Cremorne, and by the end of year two we needed a second coach and a proper class timetable. We grew carefully on purpose. The coaching standard did not drop, the class numbers stayed capped, and every member had a file with their numbers in it.
Today we run over twenty coached classes a week alongside a thriving private coaching program. We have turned down opportunities to open second locations because we would rather have one excellent studio than three average ones.
Four Ideas That Shape Everything We Do
Coaching Beats Equipment
You can train hard in any decent gym. Getting better needs eyes on you, feedback you can use and someone adjusting the plan week to week.
Small Numbers On Purpose
Twelve people maximum in any class. Not fourteen, not "twelve plus one regular". The cap exists so the coach can actually coach.
Numbers Over Vibes
Every session goes in the log. Weights, reps, class scores. If progress is not showing up in the numbers, the program gets changed.
Honest Memberships
Month to month, no lock-in contracts and no sales pitch on your first visit. Leave whenever you want and we will still wish you well.
Milestones Along The Way
Not every year was easy, but every year taught us something about running a gym properly. Here are the moments that shaped where Promowinnerhub sits today.
The warehouse opens
Promowinnerhub launches with two racks, one coach and fourteen founding private coaching clients on Cremorne Street.
First group class timetable
Enough interest to run the studio's first cohort of coached HIIT classes, capped at twelve from the very first week.
Movement screening program
We formalised a ninety-minute induction for every new member, which is still how everyone starts at Promowinnerhub today.
Return to coached training
After the difficult lockdown years we rebuilt the timetable from scratch and brought every session back to live coaching rather than streamed follow-alongs.
Ten year anniversary
Over two thousand members coached in ten years, forty per cent of current members still checking in after three years or more.
The Coaches Behind Promowinnerhub
Every coach on our team trains on the same floor they coach on. No offshore programming, no classroom-only certificates, no coach who has never had to work through their own bad shoulder.
Dane Marrick
Fifteen years coaching barbell work and a former state-level powerlifter. Dane still writes every private program at the gym himself and prefers a pen and paper to a spreadsheet.
Priya Nandakumar
Priya came out of state athletics and now leads the HIIT timetable. She has a well-documented love of sled pushes and a habit of counting every remaining rep out loud.
Oliver Banks
A background in clinical exercise and rehab. Oliver runs the movement screens, works with members coming back from injury and builds the mobility protocols used across every class.
Amara Osei
Amara runs the evening class block after full days of her own training. Sharp on cueing, relentless on pacing, and the reason the 6:30pm classes fill up first.
Thomas Whitaker
If you have ever phoned the studio, you have probably spoken to Thomas. He handles bookings, memberships and the small army of daily logistics.
Jade Alverez
Jade runs the 6:00am and 7:15am blocks, teaching the technical detail that makes early strength work actually work for beginners and experienced lifters alike.
Two Programs, One Standard
Where We Stand Today
The Way We Treat Every Member
Values documents are easy to write and hard to live. These are the ones we actually hold ourselves to, and members are welcome to call us out if we drift from them.
Welcome everyone properly
Nobody gets a blank stare at the front desk. Every new member gets a walkthrough, a screen and a coach who will remember their name within two visits.
Treat everyone the same
A member who has never touched a barbell gets the same coaching attention as a state-level athlete. That is not marketing, it is the whole point of capping class sizes.
Be honest when we get it wrong
If a session is cancelled, a coach calls in sick or a program is not working, we tell you directly and fix it. No corporate hedging.
Stand behind our coaching
If you are not satisfied with your coach after two sessions, we will swap you without question. It has happened twice in ten years, and both times the new pairing worked out better.
